The latest edition of The Balclutha Times is here, bringing together news, projects and stories from across the Balclutha Group.
And this issue starts with a particularly big milestone for Pump Technology – our move to our new home at Calleva Park, Aldermaston.
After years of growth, the team has moved into purpose-designed premises with significantly more room for our sales, administration and technical teams. The new office includes dedicated meeting and breakout spaces, a bespoke training room and plenty of greenery, creating a modern environment designed around both our people and the continued growth of the business. Importantly for customers, our telephone number and service remain exactly the same.
Engineering solutions that are anything but standard
This issue also showcases some of the more unusual challenges tackled by businesses across the Group.
LeeSan has been working with a London passenger ferry operator on a particularly interesting marine sanitation project. The system uses specially designed holding tanks and pumps to manage onboard waste while coping with the additional complication of the changing River Thames tide.
Closer to home, Pump Technology and Pump-Pegasus collaborated on a bespoke pump tank solution for a school near Guildford. With an existing pump station located beneath a small building and the school needing to remain operational, the project required some creative thinking. The resulting specially manufactured horizontal tank provided a practical, reliable and cost-effective solution while working within the restrictions of the site. THE BALCLUTHA Issue 10 Sept 202…
Investing in pump engineering knowledge
Training is another major theme in this edition.
Pump Technology recently co-hosted an intensive training programme with Pentair Jung Pumpen, bringing together staff and contractors from across the UK for hands-on technical training covering pump products, installation techniques, maintenance and fault diagnosis.
We have also been supporting drainage specialist MetroRod with equipment for its dedicated training facility, helping its engineers develop their knowledge through practical scenarios using products including DrainMinor, DrainMajor and Compli units.
For us, technical expertise isn’t simply about knowing the products we supply. It’s about understanding how complete pumping systems operate, recognising problems early and helping customers achieve safer and more reliable installations.
Supporting our wider community
There is also news of something very different from pumps.
Pump Technology is supporting HEROS, a West Berkshire charity which retrains former racehorses while providing education and support for young people with Special Educational Needs.
As part of that support, Pump Technology sponsored the charity’s 20th Anniversary Ball, helping HEROS continue developing its education facilities and the work it does bringing young people and horses together.
