Losi, we salute you

For the past nine years Sailosi Tagicakibau (Losi) has been synonymous with London Irish Rugby Club, and we have been very proud to have been the player sponsor of Losi for the past 9 years as well.

Today we pay tribute to the man: Losi has played some great rugby for London Irish and kept us entertained with his professional abilities on the pitch, over the nine seasons Losi made 158 appearances for London Irish, scoring 58 tries. Indeed, it was Losi who first scored a try in the corner where we used to sit and watch the game and affectionately after the match declared, “I just scored a try in Poo Corner” and from that moment the corner in the West Stand was named.

Through this very harmless statement, the Poo Corner brand was started and now the corner is known as the place that children can come and enjoy a great game of rugby and have some fun. It’s the area in the Madejski  stadium where the community lies at its heart and we entertain with competitions and the infamous ‘PooBall’ run.

As well as being a professional on the pitch, this ethos follows Losi off the pitch too, with him spending many hours supporting our community events, training the kids at Tadley rugby club, meeting our customers and suppliers and being on call for presentations and charity events. It’s through this dedication that we have been able to raise vast sums of money for good causes over the last few years, and put many smiles on many faces.

Now Losi has moved on to play for London Wasps, it will be very much our loss and their gain. Losi, you’ve been a great friend and ambassador for us over the last 9 years and you will always be welcome in the Pump Technology office, however, one word of caution you now need to STAY AWAY FROM THE CORNER!!

Thank you for the memories.
