Off-grid Shepherds hut requiring WC facilities
The Client
A private resident wished to have a Shepherd’s hut constructed as an additional amenity for her garden, and also enable it to be used for accommodation occasionally.
The Problem
The Shepherds hut was to be located in a separate area in the grounds of the house, remote from mains drainage.
The Solution
Sussex Huts of Wisborough Green were commissioned to construct the Shepherds hut. They needed a compact unit to deal with WC waste without digging up the landscaped garden or driveway to lay pipes or install a ground chamber. Joe Fudge of Sussex Huts contacted Pump Technology to discuss options and saw the practical possibilities that the Cinderella offered; ease of installation and positive ecological benefits.
The System
As electricity was available the most appropriate unit was the Cinderella Comfort. Pump Technology worked with Joe to advise on where the Cinderella
could best be fitted in the limited space inside the Shepherds hut. We even left a unit with Joe to enable the vent holes to be precisely cut into the side of the hut he had built. Whilst installation of the unit is easy, venting is also important to get right so that the unit works efficiently and reliably. Joe managed this using black pipe, in keeping with hut, to produce pleasing look.
The Result
The final handover was much delayed by the Covid19 crisis, but once installed and the flue adjusted for optimum performance, the client was delighted. She has had several guests stay and they have left rave reviews, citing the benefits that the Cinderella provided and added to the aesthetic appeal of the peaceful and secluded location in the Surrey Hills.
